More Power

The new Forester is equipped with a more powerful four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine that delivers up to 181 horsepower and 176 pounds of foot torque. The engine block is also designed to be stronger. The engine also features a direct fuel injection system.

The Sport and Touring trim models additionally come with a continuous variable seven-speed automatic transmission. The shifting paddles are located on the steering wheel and give drivers the feel of shifting a manual transmission. Conway drivers also have the option of choosing between intelligent and sport performance. Despite the new engine and features, the new Subaru Forester retains an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 26 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

Longer and Wider Wheelbase

The lower exterior body features protective cladding to prevent damage from rocks and road debris. Roof rails are also a standard feature. Distinctive LED headlights and taillights are available. In this way, drivers enjoy greater visibility, but the lights do not require as much power from the battery. The illumination over the license plates is also powered by LED lights.

The wheelbase is slightly longer than in previous generations, which adds interior space for rear-seat passengers and cargo. The vehicle is wider and has more headroom, which makes installing child safety seats easier. Design changes in the cabin ensure a quieter ride. The width also includes the rear tailgate to improve access, loading, and unloading. The materials used to cover the cargo floor, sides, and tailgate are textured in such a way as to resist dirt and debris.

The Limited and Touring editions have dual-climate control. The Limited, Sport and Touring trims feature keyless access and push-button start.

New Addition

The Subaru Forester is now available to North Little Rock shoppers in five different trim levels. The Sport joins the lineup. The vehicle has a bold grille featuring a black finish. The seven-speed transmission has a manual model for faster and more dynamic response. The Sport comes with 18-inch wheels. On the inside, the instrument panel also underwent a facelift that provides various customizable features. New for this year are automatic high beams on all trim levels.

Safety Upgrades

All models of the Forester in Little Rock come standard eyesight assist technology that involves a pair of dual-color cameras strategically located behind the rearview mirror. The cameras continually monitor the road and are designed to detect possible trouble. The vehicles are equipped with adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts vehicle speed to drive in traffic safely.

Should sensors detect the possibility of a front-end collision, the engine slows, and the brakes engage automatically if the driver does not respond in time. When a driver begins veering into the next lane without using a turn signal, they receive a warning to make a correction.

Subaru also added a rear-seat reminder system. Before leaving the vehicle, the driver receives an alert to check the back seat. In this way, the manufacturer hopes to prevent common-day accidents of leaving youngsters or pets trapped in the vehicle for extended lengths of time. Higher trim levels come with headlights that follow the path of the vehicle, which is helpful when turning. When pulling a trailer, a stability system helps drivers maintain control of the load.
